CASTLE offers developmentally appropriate enrichment and social
activities in a safe, home-like environment on-site at Park Side and Pine
Crest Schools. A program of the Sebastopol Union School

Introduction
The Sebastopol Union School District is pleased to offer an extended care program for grades K-6, on-site at Park Side and Pine Crest Schools from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Care is provided before and after school as well as on school vacation days. Sixth graders from Brook Haven also have a room (#19) at what has come to be known as The Haven at Pine Crest. Fifth and sixth grade students have their own curricuum and activities, including field trips, homework time, and a student-run snack bar.
In operating the school age child care program, the District's goal is to provide a safe, fun, enriching, "quality" program for children that is convenient for parents. We believe that a quality school age care program can provide positive environments, caring relationships and enriching age-appropriate experiences that contribute to a child's social, physical, and emotional development.
CASTLE is a place where children can: interact with their peers in a relaxed atmosphere, explore their interests and abilities, choose from a wide range of supervised and self-directed activities, enjoy healthy snacks, work on their homework, or just chill out. Our dedicated staff makes it a priority to teach the children in our care the social skills they need to get along with others. We provide a chance for children to have childhood time; time which is active yet unhurried.

Our mission is to enrich the after school hours of the children in the Sebastopol Union School District through quality child care activities, classes and opportunities for study and socialization. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which positive activities and relationships foster the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child.

Preschool/Kindergarten Readiness Program at Park Side
CASTLE is pleased to announce our new Preschool Program for 3-4 year olds, located on the Park Side campus in room 28. This kindergarten readiness program is available for full days, preschool hours only, or during school day hours.
In operating the preschool program, the District's goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, enriching environment that fosters the developmental skills children need for Kindergarten. This includes social/emotional, physical/sensory, and cognitive/language skills such as: positive concept of self as a person and a learner, ease and comfort in new situations away from parents, cooperation with peers and adults, verbal expression of needs, ideas, and feelings, and a curiosity and a desire to learn.

Parent Advisory Committee
The Parent Advisory Committee exists to support C.A.S.T.L.E. and ensure that it offers a quality program. Membership consists of parent representatives from all sites who volunteer for the year. Meetings are held four times a year and are open to the public.
Hours of Operation and Holidays
C.A.S.T.L.E. is open on all school days from 7:00 am until the morning bell and from school dismissal until 6:00 pm. On school vacation days CASTLE is open full days from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. C.A.S.T.L.E. is closed on all legal holidays some local holidays, and staff development days including:

Pre-registration and Enrollment
Pre-registration begins in May to guarantee a space for your
child for the Fall. Enrollment is a separate process that
generally takes place in August. If you have pre-registered you will be
sent a post card announcing enrollment dates and times. Parents must
enroll children prior to each new school year.
Sign-ups for camps begin several weeks prior to each camp.

Summer Camp is Coming for Grades K - 6
Spaces limited - first come, first served.
What?
Here is the Calendar of Events and registration
form. Summer Camp includes a Full Day Active Summer Camp. Weekly bus field
trips to Safari West, Sugarloaf Ridge, Morton's Warm Springs, Howath Park, Westminster
Woods and more. Weekly special guests/activities such as Roaring River Giant
Waterslide, Kidscience Adventures workshops, obstacle
course.
Swimming each week to Ives and the Finley or the Ridgway Center and optional
swim lessons at Ives. Special activities include: weekly themes and challenges,
sports, arts & crafts,
cooking projects, optional walking trips and much more.
Who?
Open to all Park Side, Pine Crest students.
When?
Monday through Friday, June 16 through August 21. Camp hours are from 7:00
am to 6:00 pm. Sign-up for your choice of days.
Where?
The CASTLE rooms at Park Side School.
Cost:
The cost is $32-$140 for 1-5 days and includes swimming, special activities, and afternoon snacks. Half Day Rates also available. Bus field trips and optional walking trips are an additional fee.
